There is no substitute for hard work. If you're looking for the easy way, if you're looking for the trick, you might get by for a while, but you will not be developing the talents that lie within you. There is simply no substitute for work.
- John Wooden
The Colony High School is a 5A football program in the state of Texas with an enrollment of 2060 students and plays in UIL 5A District 14. Cougar Nation football began in 1986 and plays all of their home games on campus in Tommy Briggs Stadium. Tommy Briggs was the first head football coach at The Colony High School and spent 16 seasons leading the cougars (1986-2001). In 2010 The Colony High School opened a new football field house located on the north end of Tommy Briggs Stadium. The field house is a state of the art facility with five coaching offices, a conference room, a team meeting room that seats 85 players, three locker rooms, a training room, and an equipment/laundry facility. The Colony High School currently has 225 athletes involved in the football program and during the 2016 season had 5 teams competing on a weekly basis; Varsity, 2 JV teams and 2 freshman teams. The Cougars are coming off a District Championship and are on a run of 4 straight years in the playoffs. We are excited about the 2017 Season and the future at The Colony HS.
Parents, Students, and Guests—
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to another great season of TCHS Football, and to Cougar Nation!!
Last year, we had a theme for the year called “Courage to Make All Things Possible,” and we were blessed to have done just that. Our football program made the playoffs for the fourth straight year for the first time in school history, and as you visit us this evening, we are aiming to continue that success yet again. In addition, last year saw TCHS gain four UIL State Championships in either individual or team activities, a first in school history.
At TCHS, our 2017-18 theme is: “The Power to Prevail”! We have been blessed with several great years of success at TCHS, and 31 years of excellence in the school and community. It is our belief as a school, community, and TC family that we have the power to do even more, to prevail yet again, and to continue to make a difference in the lives of students this year, as in the past. We invite you to partner with us in this journey and to see another great year at TCHS!
Enjoy the games this year, and let’s see the “The Power to Prevail” come alive all season long!
